Description
The Roman messenger god Mercury is the focus of a new series of bullion products from Sunshine Mint. This new range of bullion features gold bars, silver bars, and a silver round. The silver bar offered in the series is the 1 oz silver bar.
Mercury is featured on the obverse design of the Sunshine Mercury Silver Bar. This design shows the figure of Mercury in right-profile relief. He is captured as if he is in motion, with his winged helmet on his head and the staff, known as a caduceus, in his right hand. Mercury’s multifaceted nature made him an important and complex figure in Roman mythology, representing various aspects of communication, travel, and commerce.
The reverse of the Sunshine Mercury Silver Bar comes with an image of the SMI logo at the top. The eagle is found at the bottom of the bar.
Mercury was best known as the messenger of the gods, but in Roman mythology, like many other gods, he fulfilled a variety of other roles as well. For example, Mercury was also considered the patron god of thieves and rogues. He would protect those who engaged in cunning and stealthy activities.
